Works progressing on site with van Ellen + Sheryn’s refurbishment and extension in Cornwall.

van Ellen + Sheryn’s refurbishment and extension of a barn in Week St Mary, Cornwall is progressing on site. The proposals opened up the small, dark spaces of the barn to the light and views of the valley setting, whilst providing additional accommodation at the rear with a new ‘black box’ extension. Standing seam aluminium has been used as a modern reference to the traditional slate of the barn’s roof. Large sliding glass doors and a cantilevered balcony have been inserted onto the barn’s main elevation, giving a contemporary twist to the traditional masonry form.
