Van Ellen + Sheryn have gained planning permission to refurbish and extend a large property outside Lyme Regis, Dorset. The house is an arts and crafts style detached property with sprawling gardens, overlooking the Char valley. The proposals looked to replace an existing linking extension between the two main wings of the house, with a new oak-and-glass kitchen, and bedroom accommodation above.
The tired existing pool house will be replaced with a contemporary oak-framed pool house and outdoor kitchen and BBQ dining. A terrace and fire pit extend out into the garden at the far end of the pool, enjoying views over the valley and the evening sun.
The existing annex will have the large garage structure removed, to be replaced with a new single storey addition that provides entertaining space and additional sleeping accommodation.
