Planning permission achieved for an extension to an old Welsh Farmhouse

Van Ellen + Sheryn have gained planning permission to refurbish and extend a century-old Welsh farmhouse, situated in a beautiful valley in south Wales.

Gilfach Goch, meaning ‘Welsh Red Creek’, has been in our clients’ family for over a century.  Unfortunately the farmhouse has fallen into disrepair. Our proposals look to refurbish and extend the farmhouse and to create a family home suitable for multi-generational living.

New red oxide sheet metal roofing will replace and mimic the original rusted corrugated metal roofs of the two stone farm buildings. White painted bricks are a modern take on traditional lime-washed stone walling, and areas of grey corrugated cladding are a counterpoint to the red roof. The revamped farmhouse will maintain the agricultural look of Gilfach Goch.
