Bottor cottage is a Georgian house and gardens located in the Dartmoor national park. Van Ellen + Sheryn completely renovated, modernised, and extended the home in 2017. Since then the gardens have been designed and re-landscaped by Alice Blount Designs, and we felt it was a great opportunity for a revisit.
The design uses a geometric grid of paths and planting to extend the lines of the architecture out into the wider garden setting. Beyond the lawns is a wilder Dartmoor landscape of woods, and of course the large granite outcrops that give the house its name.
