28 new coastal houses receive planning permission in Swanpool, Falmouth.

van Ellen + Sheryn have recently been awarded planning permission for the development of 28 dwellings in Swanpool, Falmouth. The site overlooks the stunning Swanpool lagoon and beach. Located on a raised hillside, the site is prominent, and this combined with proximity of the South West Coast Path and the designated AONB to the south, meant the proposals had to be considered and sensitive to its context.

The development is formed by a mix of high quality houses and apartments overlooking Swanpool, and includes 11 affordable homes. Despite support from the local authority, the planning committee decided to initially refuse the application due to the proximity of the AONB. An appeal process was entered into, and we are pleased to announce that the case was successful, and planning permission was granted this Spring.

The site layout had to work around difficult site constraints, including steep gradients, narrow road access and protected trees.
